SEIU know the price of everything, and the value of nothing.

Perez is getting a stream of reports about SEIU's attempts to find themselves some member leaders. Guess their staff just aren't cutting it, and they've realized that workers actually listen to each other more than some random union boss from Washington DC!

Many of the few workers who jumped on board with SEIU have been taken out on paid lost time or just hired as staffers. It looks like SEIU are actively recruiting for others, telling some members that they'll make twice their current paycheck on staff, and that they'll just be handling grievances, and won't have to push the trusteeship.

And at some facilities flyers prominently announce that SEIU is now hiring for contract specialist positions (contract specialists are like long-term lost timers, negotiated in UHW's best contracts), they don't mention that in many places these positions are open because SEIU fired the worker leaders who had held the roles but wouldn't support the trusteeship.

SEIU are really struggling to get anyone on their program who isn't on their payroll! Here are a few specific reports sent by readers...

"Check into SEIUs newest lost-timer, Ron Smith from Santa Maria. Here's how it goes:

Ron Smith was voted in on the negotiating team when Marian West becomes union. After the trusteeship our entire team voted to boycott sham negotiations...but wait... On the morning of negotiations a member of our team starts receiving e-mails wondering why Santa Maria is bargaining? We're thinking no one is bargaining from our team..What's up? Well guess who's there? Good ole traitor Ron. On the morning of negotiations he calls (NUHW volunteer) Andy Reid to say he is sick. While we are saying poor Ron, he is selling us out. After being caught in several lies, when he returns he thinks all's ok with us because:

1. He informs us that he saved our asses by going to the bargaining!
2. We should get it through our heads that we are SEIU not NUHW!
3. He doesn't want to be bossed around and follow NUHW's agenda.
4. SEIU's collateral pay figures are correct. What do we think SEIU did...Make up the figures? Duh!!!!

You AND SEIU should know that his plan two days prior to selling us out was to work "undercover" for SEIU. (James Bond wanna-be) His plan all along was to go out on lost time as soon as he could with NUHW!!!!!

Well here's the clincher..NUHW gets wind of all this and of course they have too much integrity to use a lost-timer of his caliber, and through the grapevine Ron finds out NUHW now, wouldn't touch him now with a ten foot pole! So now what does Ron do? Lets see..I think I'll stay with SEIU because... "I can spend more time with my wife."... "I hate my boss."... "I don't want to work at that place again. I think I'll just stay out on lost time and sell out everyone at our hospitals!"

"But wait...Now everyone I work with is mad at me :( What to do??? I know...Even though they don't want me at their steward meeting, I'll call and see if I can kiss their asses and get back in with them. OOPS They took a vote, and it's unanimous...They don't trust me!! I even have my resignation written to SEIU not to go out on lost time...Now what to do...I know...I'll go and work for SEIU...maybe they will like me!"

He'll be a fantastic SEIU employee!

"Zina McClendon, Kaiser Sunset steward accompanied over 30 rank-and-file leaders around the Midwest in September 2008 urging SEIU leaders Anna Burger and Andy to allow members the right to organize unions of their choosing, stay in the union of their choice, and to defend UHW.

Pictured here she has a sign that states "freedom to organize" and is wearing a t-shirt to send a message to Stern-Burger that removing 65,000 members was not the right thing.

Now Zina is on paid lost time telling members that SEIU is here to protect them and that this is all just confusing.

Clearly Zina is confused.

"Our Department has signed a petition to vote our Chief Shop Steward Celina Sandoval out of her union position because of trust issues and a breach of confidentiality. We brought a petition and letters from members in ortho/ pod why they signed the petition to vote out Celina Sandoval. Then i hear that SEIU has made her a Contract Specialist, WHY? Why would they vote her to do that when Celina is under investigation, and being voted out by her department. She can't handle the stress of being a chief steward and she doesn't follow through with anything, why would they put her as a contract specialist, our whole department is outraged by this stupid decision."

"Brian Anderson from Kaiser Walnut Creek just sent out this email:

Over a week ago I was made an offer to become the Interim UHW Field Rep. I have choose to accept the position effective today. It will allow me to continue the Grievance Process and to make sure that a member of our council is involved with any bargaining for the facility such as what happened today in EVS. Please come to the Steward Council March 19th so you can hear first hand how the EVS staff has been treated. I will be on lost time for the next 60 days.
