In a deluge of terrifyingly flowery euphemisms, SEIU say:
"In the wake of the decisions made by delegates at the SEIU Convention last summer to carry out a democratically-developed unified strategy that seizes on the historic opportunity to win sweeping change for working people... Mairym will be focusing on state planning, interdivision field coordination, high level governance issues, program implementation coordination, and other related field responsibilities."
Calm down guys. You don't have to cram all your rationalizations into one sentence!
Mairym is a great choice for the new role, she's the manager who gushed about convention to a post-San Juan HQ staff meeting, and praised staff for "setting up the logistics... and then when the delegates arrived we handed it over to them, and the delegates took over--it REALLY WAS their convention!" The irony was apparently lost on Mairym that she was addressing staff who had written and revised the scripts for almost every member speech from the stage or the floor, picked and prepped workers to speak, and stage-managed every second of "their convention"!
