"I'm an organizer, and I won't go."

In response to this letter from Eliseo Medina to California local presidents, a California organizer currently assigned to "Change that Works" writes...

"What's to become of us? Hello. Allow me to introduce myself, I am an organizer. I am about building a stronger labor movement. I am not a go-along get along sort of gal. I will always question "authority".

I don't really think that Greg Pullman will identify me for scabby reassignment. Unless of course our president sees it as his way to rid himself of me. I wouldn't do the job I was reassigned to do. It's morally objectionable.

A lot of staff feel this way. This isn't like the military where when you sign up you know you're going to be destroying things. We're in this because we care about social justice. Worker's rights. a stronger labor movement.

We're workers. We are the labor movement. We need our jobs. O! To be at the mercy of maniacal bosses! Fire the boss! Can we? Can we replace Andy & Co with some common sense rank & file in touch with the real world people?

We will, apparently, hear it announced at our meeting on Friday what is to become of us.

I'm thinking of the members I've met lately who were so happy to see someone from the local, having not seen anyone in over two years. Poof!

What is Perez Stern?

SEIU staff and officers think they can hide in the dark. Already in their hostile takeover of UHW they've injured members, held boss-style captive audience meetings for staff, and refused to give us their names.

Andy Stern and his appointees love to think they're rich, famous, powerful, and accountable to no one. A member led union just doesn't fit in with their plans for stardom! They like to drive around in SUVs with tinted windows, acting like they (literally) own the place.

So if they want to be famous, let's help them! If you're an SEIU member or employee, tell Perez what the SEIU trustees and appointees are up to, and help them feel just like Paris Hilton.

If you have a story or pictures for Perez, email him at perezstern@gmail.com We promise to respect your anonymity, but we encourage you to use your real name if you can.
