Wave goodbye! Wave hello!

Greg Pullman is back to "identify" local staff for "deployment" and "reassignment", but please don't worry, everyone will still get their credits (to redeem for scarves at the SEIU store?)! And Change that Works? Oh, we'll get back to that. Like I said, you'll still get your credits.

CA Local Union Presidents--

As all of you know, three of our Locals (521, 1021, and UHW) now face hostile and aggressive decertification campaigns from NUHW. We have to make certain that we have the necessary staff resources on the ground to win these campaigns as well as the important goals of Change that Works. Below is a plan that we need to implement immediately to accomplish just that:

1. Each Local Union will continue to designate a full-time Change that Works Coordinator for the remainder of Wave #1 and all of Wave #2 that will work with the members of your Local to put pressure on Senator Feinstein and other targeted Members of Congress. As has been the case already, you will receive Change that Works credit for each of these coordinators.

2. There is a list of 7-8 people that are currently deployed in Wave #1 for the Change that Works campaign that we have initially identified to be re-deployed immediately to work with the campaigns at Locals 521,1021,and UHW. Greg Pullman will work to make assignments, in consultation with the Locals and the CA Change that Works campaign. All of your staff/members that you deploy outside your Local to these three campaigns will get Change that Works credit.

3. Greg Pullman is going to assess the remainder of the CA Wave #1 Change that Works deployed staff/members and figure out which could also be reassigned or could be sent back to their Local in exchange for other staff that could be assigned to these decert campaigns. Again, all of your staff/members that that you deploy outside your Local to these three campaigns will get Change that Works credit.

4. A minimum number of staff/members will remain with the CTW campaigns.Greg would work with Jon Youngdahl and Tracy Zeluff in making the decision of who these people are. Also, a small number of Wave #1 staff/members that are not selected in this draft will remain with the CTW campaign.

6.The majority of Wave #2 deployed staff would work on these decert campaigns and other pressing needs as they arise. We will work to identify who you are deploying for Wave #2 over the next week or two through the Local Union Resource Plan (LURPs) meetings.

7. All of you should be in communication with Jon Youngdahl, Tracy Zeluff and me with your suggestions about how we can best move Diane Feinstein on the Employee Free Choice Act.

Below is a summary of the dates for Waves #1 and #2:

What is Perez Stern?

SEIU staff and officers think they can hide in the dark. Already in their hostile takeover of UHW they've injured members, held boss-style captive audience meetings for staff, and refused to give us their names.

Andy Stern and his appointees love to think they're rich, famous, powerful, and accountable to no one. A member led union just doesn't fit in with their plans for stardom! They like to drive around in SUVs with tinted windows, acting like they (literally) own the place.

So if they want to be famous, let's help them! If you're an SEIU member or employee, tell Perez what the SEIU trustees and appointees are up to, and help them feel just like Paris Hilton.

If you have a story or pictures for Perez, email him at perezstern@gmail.com We promise to respect your anonymity, but we encourage you to use your real name if you can.
