Another reluctant scab writes...

Hi Perez,

Your post of the diary of a reluctant scab yesterday made me want to share my own forced scab story. I guess the first thoughts that came to mind yesterday as I was forced to pretend to listen to the crap being spouted from the overpaid shirts and paid members on stage were questions: why would they force good, idealistic organizers to work an evil campaign like this? Don't they realize they are only encouraging us to work actively against them? It seems especially stupid, since many of us are skilled enough in campaign accountability techniques to know how to sabotage this shitty excuse for a campaign in ways impossible for them to trace. But then, maybe I just answered my own question, right?

Yesterday, as the other scab mentioned, was especially slimy. Regan's Hitler-esque speech was downright scary in it's violent overtones. Who is this guy? Doesn't he know he works for "care-givers"? His meatheaded admonitions to "put a stake through the heart" of NUHW and "put them in the ground" are so completely out of touch with his members, whose work embodies the very principle of loving one another. These are not Longshoremen or burly Trades Union members. They are people who in many cases put their lives on hold, often indefinitely, in order to care for someone else. They routinely give of themselves in ways I can't imagine, and there are times in my life when I wonder if I could muster the personal strength I've seen in so many of them. It's because of them that I've decided to work against this union's "leadership".

Good night, and good luck, Fresno Home Care workers. Remember many of us are with you.

What is Perez Stern?

SEIU staff and officers think they can hide in the dark. Already in their hostile takeover of UHW they've injured members, held boss-style captive audience meetings for staff, and refused to give us their names.

Andy Stern and his appointees love to think they're rich, famous, powerful, and accountable to no one. A member led union just doesn't fit in with their plans for stardom! They like to drive around in SUVs with tinted windows, acting like they (literally) own the place.

So if they want to be famous, let's help them! If you're an SEIU member or employee, tell Perez what the SEIU trustees and appointees are up to, and help them feel just like Paris Hilton.

If you have a story or pictures for Perez, email him at perezstern@gmail.com We promise to respect your anonymity, but we encourage you to use your real name if you can.
